Which base rate fits your lifestyle?
These are your base rate options for providing electricity to your home. Since everyone’s electric needs are different, consider when you use electricity the most and when you can conserve it. The more flexibility you have to shift your energy use to off-peak times, the lower your bill will be.

3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Our new standard base rate favored by most
- Shortest time commitment for on-peak pricing of all base rate options.
- Best if you can shift usage to before 3 p.m. or after 7 p.m. and all weekend long.
- The on-peak rate is lowest October through May.

11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Alternative base rate to save during evenings and weekends
- Moderate savings during off-peak hours.
- Best if you can shift usage to evenings after 7 p.m. and all weekend long.

No two houses are the same, so DTE has options to give you a special rate depending on your needs. Specific equipment or a separate meter is required to utilize specialty rates.
CoolCurrents®
If you have central air conditioning or a whole-home air source heat pump, and can install an additional smart meter and a 24-volt power source connection.
- During times of peak electric demand, allow DTE to interrupt your air conditioner or air source heat pump in exchange for a discounted rate when compared to the Time of Day 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. rate.
- Save up to 32% on the cooling portion of your energy bill, and, if you have an air source heat pump, save up to 34% on the electric heating portion.

Are you 65 or older?
You may be eligible for a monthly credit.
If you’re 65 or older, designated as the head of your household, and on our standard base electric rate, you qualify for a $4.25 monthly credit to your bill. That’s a savings of over $50 annually!
