DTE offers rebates toward the cost to install EV charging stations for business and commercial DTE Electric customers. If you are a residential customer who wants to install an EV charger at your residence, please check out our Home EV Charger Installation page.

Rebates

Incentives for Level 2 and DC Fast Charger (DCFC) are currently fully subscribed. Join the 2024 waitlist now.

We review applications for Business EV Charger Rebates on a case-by-case basis. At this time, DTE is not considering applications from dealerships. There are a limited number of rebates available for DCFCs, and applications will be considered for approval if they meet the site requirements and preferred site conditions available here.

  • Level 2 stations receive $2,000 per port
  • DC Fast Charger (DCFC) stations receive up to $55,000 per charger

For the company receiving the rebate check:

  • Complete the "Step 1 – Initial Application" form
    Please note: The Initial Application form is necessary for you to receive approval for the rebate
  • Your information will be saved and ready for you to complete the Rebate Form, which happens after your chargers have been installed

  • After you’ve applied you will receive an email confirming your application was submitted
  • DTE then reviews your application and sends an approval email to you
  • If charger installation is dependent on receiving a Business EV Charger Rebate, do not proceed to Step 5 until you received formal approval from DTE

To proceed with charger installation, you must follow one of the two processes below.

Process 1: Existing electrical capacity is currently available at the charger location

  • If the electrical contractor determines that you have sufficient electrical capacity, then they can obtain the required permits from your municipality and proceed with charger installation

Process 2: Additional electrical capacity is needed at the charger location

  • If the electrical contractor determines that you do not have sufficient electrical capacity, then you must notify the Charging Forward Team to open a Work Order (WO) to have DTE bring new or upgraded service to the site:
    • A New Service Request to increase electrical capacity will require the following documents:
      • Request for New Electric Service form
      • Copy of property deed from the property owner
      • Site plan with existing utilities highlighted and proposed transformer location (final location to be decided between DTE Planning and customer)
      • DTE's load sheet form  (your electrical contractor will work with you to complete this)
      • Riser diagram (your electrical contractor will work with you to complete this. An example is available here) 
    • Once you have completed all the documents, upload the files to PowerClerk or email the files to evinfo@dteenergy.com with your BIZ Number and site address in the subject line. (i.e., Work Order Needed for BIZ-XXXXX  1 Street Name, City, MI Zip code)
      • To load the documents on Power Clerk, sign in to your account here.
        Then:
        • Select "View/Edit Project" to get to your project
        • Go to the "Available Forms" section
        • Find "New Service Request Form" and click "Begin"
        • Upload the required documents
        • Click "Submit"
    • The Charging Forward Team will submit the New Service Request and necessary documents on your behalf
    • You will receive an email from DTE Planning with your WO number within three to five business days
    • DTE Planning will contact you to gather more information about your project within six business days of receiving your WO number
    • You will then complete Steps 5 through 10 listed here to complete the new or upgraded service with DTE

  • Take pictures of the installed, functioning chargers once they are in service
  • Log in to dteBizEV.powerclerk.com to complete your rebate application:
  1. Select “View/Edit Project” to get to your project
  2. Go to the “Available Forms” section
  3. Find  “Step 2 – Finalize Rebate” and click “Begin”
  4. Complete the form, including pictures of the installed, functioning chargers, a copy of the electrician invoice for installed chargers, and EVSE information (such as serial numbers or IDs) to verify network connectivity
  5. Submit 

  • After you've submitted the Rebate Form, you will receive an email confirming it was submitted
  • DTE then reviews your Rebate Form and sends an approval email to you
  • DTE processes your rebate and mails you a check. If you do not receive your check within four to six weeks of receiving your Rebate Form approval email, please contact DTE at evinfo@dteenergy.com
